JM the Poet is a rapper based in Pittsburgh, PA. Originally from South Carolina, JM has made a name for himself coast-to-coast as a rap artist, poet, and songwriter. His lyrical approach to music showcases the thought he puts into work while pushing a unique sound. JM is a label mate on Driving While Black Records, an independent record label in Pittsburgh. He is also a performing and teaching artist with 1Hood Media, a socially-conscious artist and activist collective raising awareness on social justice matters through art.
With albums, EPs, and countless performances at shows, festivals, and national conferences along the east coast, JM is making waves in hip-hop. He needed publicity to revamp his presence in Pittsburgh and expand beyond Western PA’s border.
A custom-crafted pitch was sent to local and national music media.
In just under two months, JM the Poet appeared in Pittsburgh City Paper, TribLive, Underground Hip Hop Blog, and Medium’s Authority Magazine as a Rising Music Star.
JM also captured the attention of two Pittsburgh radio stations and a South Carolina music blog for future features and airtime.
Pitching, we achieved a 35% placement rate during our time together and to date, Downfall has received 7.1k streams on YouTube with media pitching and social media being the primary promotion.
